These are the files I created for a user to be able to open a Command Prompt
window that starts in the folder they are working in. This is useful for
ComS 227 students when they need to compile and run their java files.
The instructions to use these files are as follows:
- There are 3 files. I recommend you unzip them to the root directory of
the H drive. This the default if you want them to work without modifying
them.
- You must rename the two .txt files to .bat files. If you can't see the
extension, you will have to modify Folder Options to show Known File Types.
- Double-click on CopyCP.bat. This copies the CommandPrompt.lnk file to
your SendTo folder.
- To use this, all you need to do is select a folder in Windows Explorer,
right-click on it and select Command Prompt from the Send To menu option.
This opens a Command Prompt window starting in the folder you just
selected.
- You will need to do this on every computer you use once because the
change is only made on the computer you are using and not the server that
contains your profile.
