Problems connecting to popeye, pyrite, ren, cstc, etc?
As of July 6, 2014, we have restricted these machines to campus-only and VPN access.
All ISU students, faculty & staff have access to the VPN (click here for details).
Late October 2014: Computer Science's email service (@cs.iastate.edu) is being migrated to ISU's central IT servers. No downtime is expected.
October 15, 2014: Computer Science's DNS
servers were replaced between 5 and 7 am.
August 10, 2014: Most Computer Science servers–including pyrite, popeye, ren, and cstc–have switched to Iowa State authentication. The same username that accesses CyMail and ASW now works for CS servers!
July 6, 2014: Several Computer Science servers–including pyrite, popeye, ren, and cstc–have been moved to private IPs. The ISU VPN (http://www.it.iastate.edu/howtos/vpn
) must now be used to connect from off-campus.
June 27, 2014: Pearson & Atanasoff were affected by a campus network outage
. Remote access servers were offline during the outage.
