Department News

  • April 10, 2014: at approximately 2:50 pm, one of our servers crashed due to a malfunctioned hard disk. The server was repaired and service restored at 6:15 pm. Users experienced intermittent connectivity during this time frame.
  • Feb. 15, 2014: Our Pearson server room was hit by a campus network outage. Remote access servers were offline during the outage.
  • Dec. 16, 2013: Pearson Hall Winter Break Schedule:
    • Collaboration/TA Room 0102/0112/0145: Closed from 12/20/2013 @ 5pm until 1/8/2014. Resume to normal schedule on 1/9/2014;
    • Pearson 0105/0109/0113/0158: Closed from 12/20/2013 @ 5pm until 1/8/2014. Resume to normal schedule on 1/9/2014;
    • Pearson 0141: Closed from 12/20/2013 @ 5pm until 1/12/2014. Resume to normal schedule on 1/13/2014;
    • Pearson 0108: Locked from 12/20/2013 @ 5pm until 1/5/2014, but accessible to card users 24×7. Resume to normal schedule on 1/6/2014.
  • August 7, 2013: Planned CS storage migration. Estimated downtime is 3 hours (6 am to 9 am). File services (NFS, Samba, ftp, etc.) will be shut down for the duration. Most servers will be unavailable–including pyrite, ren, popeye, cstc, and smb. However, CS mail and web servers should remain unaffected. [Completed]
